Full-scale war creates a prolonged context of uncertainty, threat and social destabilisation for students, which significantly affects their mental health and personal development. Psychological well-being in modern science is seen as a multidimensional construct that covers the cognitive-evaluative, emotional, and functional aspects of positive personality functioning. The theoretical basis of the study was the hedonistic approach to subjective wellbeing, substantiated by E. Diener, and K. Riff’s eudemonistic model of psychological well-being. In the context of military challenges, social capital as a system of social ties, trust and inclusion in communities, which can act as a buffer against stressors, becomes particularly important. Purpose of the study. The purpose of the article is to empirically study the characteristics of psychological well-being among students in wartime and to determine the role of social capital as a factor in its preservation and a predictor of an individual’s adaptive potential. Scientific novelty. The study analyses the relationship between indicators of psychological well-being and structural components of social capital among students, specifically in conditions of martial law. It is specified that private social capital resources are more closely related to existential components of well-being (personal growth, life goals), while public social connections correlate with socio-functional aspects and the overall integral indicator of psychological well-being. Conclusions. The results of the study showed a predominance of average levels of life satisfaction and overall psychological well-being, with a risk group with low scores. The most preserved components of well-being are purposefulness and positive interpersonal relationships, while autonomy and environmental control proved to be more vulnerable to the influence of military uncertainty. Positive correlations were found between social capital and psychological well-being, which allows social resources to be considered a significant adaptive factor during periods of social transformation and justifies the need to develop psychosocial support programmes for higher education students
