SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUTH WHO LOST THEIR JOBS DURING MARTIAL LAW

Abstract

The article examines the social characteristics of young people who have lost their jobs under martial law. It analyzes the main problems faced by this population category, including social, economic, and psychological aspects of unemployment. The primary focus is on the social challenges arising from job loss, such as financial instability, a decline in the standard of living, loss of social status, and difficulties in finding employment. The impact of military actions on young people’s opportunities to access the labor market, education, and retraining is also considered. Additionally, the article highlights the psycho-emotional consequences of unemployment, including increased anxiety, stress, and the risk of social isolation. Possible ways to support young people under martial law are proposed, including social initiatives, state programs, and psychological assistance. Introduction. Youth unemployment under martial law is one of the most pressing socio-economic issues in modern Ukraine. The ongoing war has led to the mass closure of enterprises, drastic labor market shifts, and economic instability. Young people who have lost their jobs face not only financial difficulties but also social isolation, loss of professional identity, and decreased self-esteem. This article examines the main social, economic, and psychological consequences of unemployment among young people, as well as possible ways to address these challenges. Purpose of the study. To analyze the social characteristics of unemployed youth under martial law and identify the key challenges they face. The study aims to assess the impact of job loss on social adaptation, psychological well-being, and financial stability. Scientific novelty. The research provides a comprehensive analysis of the social, economic, and psychological aspects of youth unemployment in wartime conditions. In particular, it explores the loss of social status, restricted access to the labor market, and the necessity of retraining. The study proposes specific support measures, including social initiatives, government programs, and psychological assistance. Conclusions. Job loss in wartime has a complex impact on young people, leading to social isolation, a decline in living standards, and negative psychological effects. To mitigate these consequences, it is crucial to develop support strategies, including government employment programs, retraining opportunities, social reintegration efforts, and psychological counseling. A comprehensive approach will help young people successfully adapt to new conditions and reduce social tensions.
