Abstract

Poetry, with its ability to convey complex emotions and experiences, serves as a powerful psychotherapeutic tool. Its application in therapeutic practice is rooted in the profound impact of words on an individual’s emotional state. This art form enables patients to explore their inner worlds, express emotions that are difficult to articulate in everyday communication, and discover new ways to comprehend life’s challenges. Poetry as a therapeutic tool has proven effective in working with individuals who have experienced traumatic events, suffer from depression, anxiety disorders, or face difficulties with self-expression. Its versatility makes it applicable in therapy for both children and adults. The aim of the study is to scientifically substantiate the therapeutic potential of poetry by analyzing its impact on an individual’s psycho-emotional state, exploring historical and cultural prerequisites for its use in healing practices, and determining its role in contemporary approaches to psychotherapy. This involves the systematization of theoretical knowledge, examination of the mechanisms through which poetry influences the psyche, and the formulation of recommendations for its use within therapeutic and educational methodologies. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis of theoretical approaches to using poetry as a psychotherapeutic instrument, considering its influence on an individual’s emotional and cognitive states. The study also addresses the historical and cultural aspects of the development of poetry therapy, providing a deeper understanding of its origins and evolution across various cultures. This work expands the understanding of poetry’s role in fostering empathy, selfawareness, and personal growth within the psychotherapeutic process. Conclusions. Poetry not only enhances emotional well-being but also offers new opportunities for profound self-discovery, contributing to spiritual growth and the harmonization of an individual’s inner state. It is a powerful therapeutic tool that deserves integration into modern psychotherapeutic practices.
