ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND THE GREEN TRANSFORMATION OF INVESTMENT ACTIVITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

The current stage of development of the global economy is characterised by the simultaneous intensification of environmental challenges, the digital transformation of economic processes and a shift in approaches to investment decision-making. The intensification of climate risks, growing public demand for environmentally responsible business practices, the development of the concept of sustainable development, and the implementation of ESG principles necessitate a review of traditional investment mechanisms. At the same time, the rapid development of digital technologies – in particular artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, blockchain technologies and digital platforms – is creating new opportunities for assessing the environmental performance of investment projects, automating risk analysis processes and ensuring transparency in investment activities. The aim of this article is to examine the theoretical foundations and current trends in the green transformation of investment activities within the digital economy, to determine the role of environmental factors and digital technologies in shaping the investment attractiveness of enterprises, and to justify directions for accelerating the green transformation of investment activities through the use of modern digital tools. The methodological basis of the study comprised methods of systems analysis, logical generalisation, comparative analysis, the structural-functional approach, as well as the concepts of ESG, sustainable development and digital transformation. The study substantiates the interrelationship between environmental factors and the processes of green transformation of investment activity against the backdrop of the development of Ukraine’s digital economy. It demonstrates that the combination of digital technologies with environmental regulatory requirements gives rise to a new type of investment behaviour, focused on low-carbon and resource-efficient projects. Environmental and digital factors influencing investment activity have been systematised, and the dynamics of renewable energy development and foreign direct investment in Ukraine for 2023–2025 have been analysed. The main barriers to the green transformation of investment in the context of war and post-war recovery have been systematised, and directions for stimulating ‘green’ investment through the use of digital tools have been outlined.
