CHARACTERISTICS AND FEATURES OF THE FORMATION OF THE COMPETITIVENESS OF INDUSTRIAL REGIONS

The transformation of Ukraine's economic system, in particular its transformation from a centrally planned model to a market-based one that functions as a full-fledged economic entity on the global stage, requires the introduction of a number of effective mechanisms. One of these is the formation of the competitiveness of the regions of the state. However, it must be understood that there can be no template approach to this issue, because not only regions, but even individual communities have certain differences with their neighbors. This is expressed in the presence of many factors: the number and age of the population, the availability of natural resources, financial capital, the development of the logistics component in the region, proximity to the border of Ukraine, the presence of ties with international partners. Even historical foundations have an impact on the development of a given territory. For example, during the empire, the foundations were laid for the development of metallurgy and machine-building centers in Donbas, Dnipropetrovsk region, Kyiv and Kharkiv, port infrastructure for export of products in Odessa and Mariupol, sugar production in the territory of modern Poltava, Kyiv and Vinnytsia regions. Accordingly, a system of professional educational institutions of various levels was established. Thus, today the economic base of all regions of Ukraine has been basically formed. However, modern global economic trends often make adjustments to the established mechanisms of work not only of national economies, but also of regional ones. Therefore, the issue of forming the competitiveness of economic entities in a territorial context is relevant and timely. The analysis made will allow regional authorities to pursue a policy of promoting the formation of a mechanism for the development of enterprises in the region through optimal use of resources, creating prerequisites for structural and innovative changes, creating knowledge-intensive and high-tech industries, strengthening foreign economic activity, etc.
