OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF UKRAINIAN ENTERPRISES: AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT, OBSTACLES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

Abstract

Introduction. The article presents a modern understanding of the concept of operational efficiency as a key aspect of increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of any business. The purpose of the study is to research, systematize and substantiate effective and affordable tools for ensuring operational efficiency of Ukrainian enterprises with a focus on their possible adaptation to new challenges and constraints. Results. The article identifies the main areas for achieving operational efficiency through the implementation of Lean + Six Sigma methodologies, sustainable development projects, productivity improvement programmers, etc. The article discusses the obstacles for Ukrainian enterprises. It is argued that employee training and the development of a culture of continuous improvement, as well as a system for ensuring a safe working environment in the Ukrainian context are particularly relevant in the context of martial law. The article proves that implementation of these areas of operational efficiency allows companies to effectively adapt to changes, ensure high quality of products, reduce costs and improve environmental performance. For this purpose, the article presents the example of Metinvest, which demonstrates the successful implementation of operational efficiency measures. Conclusions and specific proposals of the author. The article presents the tools for ensuring operational efficiency in the Ukrainian context. To achieve operational efficiency, modern businesses are recommended to: analyse existing processes, identify bottlenecks, optimise business processes and automate routine operations; implement continuous training programmes for employees; make decisions based on data analytics and digitalisation; review communication channels to improve interaction between departments and stakeholders, etc. The scientific novelty of the article is the systematisation of tools for ensuring operational efficiency, as well as recommendations for determining the possibility and obstacles to their implementation in modern Ukrainian realities.
